Our strategy for video was twofold: re-purpose and create.
Repurposing video
In order to reuse old Global content, we decided to split old shows into segments. We did this in two sets or packages: for the Scottish Referendum show and for the two Ebola shows. These smaller clips served as a way to extend that content's life over several weeks instead of just one. They were snippets that people who didn't have time to spend on a 25-minute show could quickly consume, and they were perfect to tweet or post to Facebook on holidays or weekends.
Creating new video
We explored several different ways to do this, including several different iPhone apps, but we were most successful using Wochit, an online service that makes video-creation extremely easy. The platform, for which the creator gave us free access, allowed us to play with converting weekly stories into video formats. We discovered this late in the semester and are still exploring all the possibilities.
